Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana’s Ambassador, has officially assumed her post in London.

Her Excellency Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana’s High Commissioner-Designate to the United Kingdom with concurrent accreditation to Ireland, arrived in London on Saturday, 20 September 2025 to officially begin her assignment.

Upon arrival, Her Excellency was received by Mr. David Pearey, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, and Mr. Mawutor N.K. Alifo, Head of Chancery. A short reception was held at the Official Residence. The event included Mission staff and representatives from Ghanaian associations, professional groups, traditional and religious organizations, youth and student unions, as well as leaders from both the NDC-UK and Ireland Chapter and the Chairman NPP-UK Branch.

In his welcome speech, Conrad Dumbah, Chairman of the NDC UK & Ireland Chapter, expressed the Chapter’s renewed commitment to supporting Her Excellency Mrs. Benson and her office. He emphasised their dedication to helping her achieve the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) established for foreign envoys—a mandate introduced for the first time by President John Dramani Mahama’s government.

In her address, Her Excellency Mrs. Benson expressed sincere appreciation for the warm welcome extended to her. She reaffirmed her dedication to further strengthening the enduring partnership between Ghana and the United Kingdom, and emphasised her commitment to working collaboratively with the Ghanaian diaspora to realise the vision of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, ensuring greater opportunities for all Ghanaians.

Her Excellency called on the diverse community groups and associations for their support in the effective execution of her mandate. She further underscored her intention to maintain an open-door policy throughout her tenure, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and constructive engagement.

The Ghana High Commission remains fully supportive of Her Excellency in the discharge of her official responsibilities, and encourages the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom and Ireland to extend a heartfelt welcome to Her Excellency Mrs. Benson, and to play an active role in the advancement of the collective interests of our nation.
