PRESIDENT MAHAMA HEADS TO FRANCE FOR ONE HEALTH SUMMIT AND BILATERAL TALKS WITH MACRON

President John Dramani Mahama has embarked on an official visit to France to participate in the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon, followed by high-level bilateral engagements in Paris underscoring Ghana’s growing influence on the global stage.

In Lyon, the President is expected to play a leading role alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in high-level discussions addressing reforms to global health systems, coordinated responses to emerging health threats, and international cooperation initiatives. President Mahama will deliver keynote speeches outlining Ghana’s commitments to global health security and sustainable policy frameworks, showcasing the nation’s proactive stance in shaping international health policy.

Following the summit, the President will travel to Paris for a series of diplomatic engagements. On April 8, he will hold a bilateral meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace, where discussions will centre on strengthening Ghana–France cooperation in key sectors including health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.

Additionally, President Mahama will meet with Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate, to bolster parliamentary and institutional ties between the two nations.

The visit highlights Ghana’s rising role in global health diplomacy and reinforces its commitment to multilateral cooperation. President Mahama is expected to return to Accra following the successful completion of his engagements in Paris.
