In late March and early April 2026, President John Dramani Mahama once again proved why leadership is about action, not just promises. By convening high-level engagements with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at the Jubilee House, the President has sent an unmistakable message: Ghana’s governance will be strengthened, transparent, and accountable.
At the heart of these discussions was the establishment of a Governance Advisory Council a key commitment from his 2024 campaign. President Mahama is not merely keeping his word; he is institutionalizing a culture of partnership between the state and civil society. This is leadership that listens, collaborates, and acts.
Perhaps the most commendable move is the President’s bold step to legislate a binding code of conduct for ministers. Moving away from mere moral persuasion to legally enforceable standards, the draft currently before Parliament marks a historic shift toward integrity at the highest levels of government. This is the “Reset Agenda” in its finest form.
The discussions also tackled the urgent national crisis of illegal mining (galamsey), with a clear focus on restoring Ghana’s ravaged forests and water bodies. By emphasizing that CSO partnerships facilitated by officials such as Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah are crucial for protecting the environment, President Mahama has shown that he values expertise, collaboration, and the future of Ghana’s natural heritage.
In his second term, President Mahama is not resting on past achievements. He is deepening democracy, strengthening institutional reforms, and building a Ghana where leaders are held to legal, not just ethical, standards. For this visionary and accountable leadership, President John Dramani Mahama deserves the highest praise from every Ghanaian who believes in good governance and a brighter national future.
Mr. President. Ghana is on the right path.
